About Me

  • About Me: "What were we made for? To know God. What aim should we set ourselves in life? To know God. What is the 'eternal life' that Jesus gives? Knowledge of God. What is the best thing in life, bringing more joy, delight, and contentment, than anything else? Knowledge of God. What, of all the states God ever sees man in, gives Him most pleasure? Knowledge of Himself." - J.I. Packer

Music

  • Favorite Artists: Caedmon's Call, Derek Webb, Indelible Grace, Jars of Clay, David Gary, Damien Rice, Coldplay, Nickel Creek, Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, The Postal Service, Keane, Sixpence None the Richer, Jason Mraz, Aqualung, Daniel Powter, Marc Broussard, Anna Nalick, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, Chris Rice
  • Favorite Albums: 40 Acres (Caedmon's Call), Mockingbird (Derek Webb), Redemption Songs (Jars of Clay), Breakaway (Kelly Clarkson), Chariot (Gavin DeGraw), Life in Slow Motion (David Gray, O (Damien Rice), Wreck of the Day (Anna Nalick), Ten Thousand Days (Bebo Norman), X&Y (Coldplay), Why Should the Fire Die? (Nickel Creek), all the Indelible Grace CDs
  • Favorite Genre: I'm generally a fan of pretty mellow music, but I also like to listen to country when I get sick of the CDs in my car, and I've been known to rock out to a few hip-hop songs... but I hate songs where I can't understand the lyrics.
  • Favorite Songs: "Sometimes a Light Surprises" (Indelible Grace), "Table for Two" (Caedmon's Call), "Follow Through" (Gavin DeGraw), "Hey Ya!" (Outkast), "Feel Good, Inc." (Gorillaz)
  • Favorite Lyrics: "I can see a tree in the soft ground, holding on to roots in its given land. And I think how you saved me, dumb and depraved, and dependent on a hand that opens each day. How great the love of God, that calls for who I am..." - Caedmon's Call, "A New Day" "The whole field of vision fades beneath me now, and the houses spread for a million miles in this gray town. And the weight of glory, if you held it in your hand, it would pass right through you, so now's your chance. Would you fall to pieces in the high countries?" - Caedmon's Call, "The High Countries" "Way back when You first calmed me, at peace with You I'd always be, but now it's empty methodology, the fine white tomb that no one sees. Oh, I am perishing within the grey of faith and form. Arise, rebuke my content and my peace, make my calm, Your storm." - Caedmon's Call, "My Calm / Your Storm" "Father, long before creation, Thou hadst chosen us in love. And that love, so deep, so moving, draws us close to Christ above. Still it keeps us, still it keeps us, firmly fixed in Christ alone." - Caedmon's Call, "Sing His Love" "This day's been crazy, but everything's happened on schedule... from the rain and the cold to the drink that I spilled on my shirt. 'Cause You knew how You'd save me before I fell dead in the garden; You knew this day long before You made me out of dirt. And You know the plans that You have for me... and You can't plan the ends and not plan the means..." - Caedmon's Call, "Table for Two" "There's only one who never fails to beckon the morning light. There's only one who sets loose the gales and ties the trees down tight. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. There's only one, only one, Holy One." - Caedmon's Call, "There's Only One" "I wake to find my soul in fragments, given to a thousand loves, but only One will have no rival, hangs to heal me, spills His blood. Curse-reversing Day of Jesus, when You finally seize my soul. Freedom from myself will be the sweetest rest I've ever known." - Chris Rice, "Prone to Wander" ...to be continued.
  • Songs for Roadtrips: It really depends on the mood and how long the trip is. I'm fairly flexible.
  • Songs I hate: "My Boo," Usher
  • Guilty Pleasure: "Gold Digger"... except I don't feel guilty. I do, however, sometimes feel guilty about listening to Clay Aiken, but I think that's a result of other people telling me he sucks. I love him though.
  • Songs I repeat the most: Well, according to iTunes, my top played song is "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows, but that's really because last summer I was in this relationship/mood where I listened to it at least ten times a day. Now, I would say that basically anything by Indelible Grace or Caedmon's Call, and my top played hymn will probably forever be Cowper's "Sometimes A Light Surprises."
  • Band I wish I was in: Outkast. They dance like whoa.

Hey, remember that one time where you drove 6 hours to meet a boy and then found out that he was, like, way cool? That was pretty awesome, I think. And then getting pulled over on the way back. That's probably my favorite. 'Cause I don't have to pay. Which is nice. "This is the baptismal font."
